How to Choose the Right Motorcycle Wheel Chock for Trailer, Truck & Garage

A motorcycle wheel chock is one of the simplest but most important pieces of transport and storage equipment you can buy. It holds the front wheel upright so the bike stays stable in a trailer, pickup truck, van or garage - without a second person. Choosing the wrong one can mean a dropped bike or a chock that does not fit your wheel size.

1. Fixed vs Adjustable Wheel Chocks

  • Fixed chocks are built for one wheel width and are simple and strong. They are ideal when you always transport the same bike.
  • Adjustable chocks slide wider or narrower to fit different front tires, which is useful for dealers, workshops or anyone with more than one motorcycle.

2. E-Track vs X-Track vs Floor Mount

  • E-Track / X-Track chocks clip into the track systems already fitted in many trailers and vans, so you can move or remove them in seconds.
  • Floor / trailer-mounted chocks bolt to the deck for permanent, heavy-duty holding.

3. Load Capacity and Wheel Size

Check the chock weight rating and the tire width range. A heavy touring bike needs a higher capacity than a dirt bike. As a rule, choose a chock rated above your motorcycle weight.

4. Build Quality

Look for steel construction with a durable finish. A chock that flexes under load is dangerous. Anti-rattle, cushioned contact points also help protect your wheel.

Bottom line: match the chock to your wheel size, mounting system and bike weight.
