Motorcycle flywheel pullers (also called magneto pullers or rotor pullers) come in many thread sizes, and choosing the wrong one can strip the flywheel threads. Why Thread Size Matters

A flywheel puller threads onto (or into) the flywheel so it can be pulled straight off the crankshaft taper. The thread must match exactly in three ways:

1. Diameter - the M number (e.g. M27 = 27 mm).
2. Pitch - the distance between threads (e.g. 1.0, 1.25, 1.5 mm).
3. Direction - right-hand (RH, the most common) or left-hand (LH, used on many GY6 scooters and some MX engines).

Using a puller with the wrong size or pitch will cross-thread the flywheel and cause expensive damage. Always measure the flywheel thread before ordering.

1. Check the service manual - it usually states the flywheel puller thread size.
2. Measure with a thread gauge - measure the diameter and thread pitch of the flywheel center.
